Atlas of Cardiac Anatomy

This volume serves as a core foundation of anatomy that can stand alone or be studied in conjunction with future volumes in this series, the Anatomical Basis of Cardiac Interventions. Specific areas such as interventional electrophysiology, structural heart disease, interventional imaging, cardiac surgery, and cardiac neuroanatomy will be presented in greater detail.
Our sentiment about the field of anatomy is best summarized by the words of the anatomists McMinn andHutchings who stated that “beauty of form is not limited to the exterior.”* Every moment spent on this project has been joyful for us as learners who are mesmerized by the beauty of the heart. Among fundamental biological sciences, anatomy is perhaps “timeless” because it is not going to change. Our intention is that the first volume will not only serve as a foundational resource for new entrants to the field, but also for experienced operators who could obtain new insights. We hope that the reader will concur with the wise words of our beloved UCLA Coach John Wooden who said, “It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts!”
